The Bothersome Bathroom

My bathroom was remodeled in 1991 and I always noticed a musty smell on the towels in the bathroom. On the floor next to the bathroom, I noticed that the floor covering had changed colors. A contractor removed the sheet rock on the wall and there was a forest of black mold growing on the studs and sheet rock. I notified the contractor that had done the original remodel and he basically discounted the problem.

My new contractor gutted the old bathroom and determined that the original contractor had failed to installed a moisture barrier, which is a code violation in Arizona. I got no help from the Arizona Board of Contractors. I have many health issues as does my wife and we are in the beginning stages of suing the original contractor. My home is worthless and our health is bad as a result of mold issues.
