Wegener’s Granulomatosis
I was diagnosed with Wegener’s on Feb. 02, 2004. Since then, I have been on chemo and steroids- mine also started with sinus problems that went into my lungs a kidney specialist was called and he sent my blood work to Stanford University Medical for diagnosis. I was shocked as the only problems I’ve had in the past 10 years have been with allergies which nobody could ever cure.
I also moved from a dry climate 20 years in Las Vegas to a wet damp moldy climate on the ocean in northern California I believe that was the beginning of my problems. I’m now living near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and although it does snow it is a dryer climate. I’m looking foreword to the time I’ll hopefully go into remission- although I’ve heard that people go in and out of remission. I realize I’ll be fighting this the rest of my life. I am 54 years old and the hardest part for me so far is dealing with a moon face from the steroids – weight gain and lose of my very active life style. I am happy to be alive.
My Dr. said that if I hadn’t been diagnosed as soon as I was I could have died. I am so grateful for that.
