Farmers To Drop Texas Home Coverage

This was announced last November (2001) in Texas:

    The threat of mold has motivated changes at Farmers Insurance Group.

    Company officials say comprehensive homeowners insurance policies will not be renewed in Texas next year, due to black mold claims. They say mold coverage and Texas state policy threaten the financial stability of the company.        Farmers is the first major insurance company in the state to make this decision. The move comes as the Insurance Commissioner considers new rules to limit mold coverage for Texas homes.
