Cienowskia Reticulata
(Myxomycetes - Physarales)
The
reticulate (net-form) fruitbody (plasmodiocarp) is distinctive in that
it has bright red dots scattered along the length of the peridium
(outside wall). The spore mass is black (upper right) with flecks
of white, slimy knots.
This
species is fairly common. It is part of the slime mold family. It
is not considered harmful. It may show up in many environmental
reports so it is worth mentioning.
