Kingfisher, OK – Mold troubles at a Kingfisher apartment complex are closer to being resolved following a judge’s order Wednesday.
The judge agreed to modify a temporary restraining order on the owner of the Meeker Meadows complex. He can now start cleaning up the mold at the apartments, but has agreed to hold any materials removed from the building for future testing.
Melvin Gilbertson, a lawyer representing the apartment complex’s owner, said, “We told them we could mark where it came from, hold it, contact them, and let them come get it and do whatever they need to do.”
“We don’t want to hide anything from them, so they can have it,” Gilbertson said.
Several people at the complex believe toxic mold is causing flu-like systems.
One mother blamed toxic mold for the death of her 5-month-old child.
The property owner said laboratory tests that he has conducted show only one apartment with a high level of potentially dangerous mold.
