Toxic Mold Blamed for Illness
BAKERSFIELD, CA – A child is back in the hospital after what his father claims is sickness, mycotoxicosis, which is brought on by poisoning from toxic mold.
Kenneth Johnson has taken his son, Keandre, in and out of the hospital several times for over a year with numerous symptoms, including respiratory problems, and his father claims it’s all because of toxic mold from their apartment. They live in the Coventry Apartment complex in South Bakersfield, the same place where a baby died from what her mother claims was an illness brought on by toxic mold.
According to Mr. Johnson, the symptoms of both of the children are exactly the same, and no one seems to be doing anything about it. “Recently, doctors notified us of the problem, which they said is phenomena, and they also said mold can cause phenomena,” said Johnson.
Johnson also says he complained to the management of Coventry Apartments that the mold is causing his son’s illness, but they haven’t responded to his claims. He is trying to move his son out of the complex, but it has been difficult while dealing with his child’s illness.
There has been no investigation of Coventry Apartments by Bakersfield City Code Enforcement. This seems to be very common among city and government officials nationwide. A recommendation by a physician is needed in order for the investigation process to begin, and even in these cases, it doesn’t always happen.
